About the training

YOGA AYURVEDIC MASSAGE

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is a bodywork method developed in the 1980s in Pune, India, by Kusum Modak. This approach arose from the encounter between her practice of traditional therapeutic massage and the teachings of Iyengar yoga, transmitted by BKS Iyengar, whose practice is based on precise body alignments and a careful awareness of movement.

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage combines deep tissue massage, energy stimulation, and stretches inspired by Hatha yoga. This approach allows you to work on body mobility, energy flow, and deep relaxation of the nervous system.

Trained in 2016 by Ananta Sylvain Girard, student and assistant of Kusum Modak at the International School of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (ARYM) in India, I now transmit this practice after nearly ten years of experience, adapting it to a varied audience, including people who do not practice yoga or do not have great flexibility.

The treatment begins with warm-up exercises and stimulation of the deep tissues in different parts of the body. It continues with progressive stretching sequences, performed as passive or active movements depending on the person's tone, flexibility, and needs.

Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is not limited to stretching: it is a complete body massage, from head to toe, performed with a suitable vegetable oil and sometimes complemented by the use of Calamus powder (Acorus calamus), known for its exfoliating, regenerating, detoxifying and decongesting properties.

This approach operates on several levels:

  • ° Physical, by improving mobility and flexibility

  • ° Energetic, by promoting the circulation of vital energy

  • ° Psychological, by supporting relaxation and body awareness
